KEF was established back in 1961 in Great Britain by Raymond Cook, who was a former audio engineer for the BBC. At the time, Cook sought to move away from the more conventional paper materials used to create drivers, and instead focus on developing units that featured plastic and composite cones. The Kent Engineering Foundry has been manufacturing some of the finest loudspeakers in the UK ever since.
Today, using their proprietary Metamaterial Absorption Technology, KEF has continued to live up to the level of quality that it was founded upon. This award-winning technology effectively eliminates 99% of unwanted sound that is generally produced from the rear of other drivers, which allows their loudspeakers to reproduce music with unrivaled sound quality. With the help of their Uni-Core technology, KEF is able to provide drive units that combine woofer and subwoofer into a single motor system, which allows for the reduction in enclosure size without affecting the output performance of the overall system.
