Back in 1985, Touraj Moghaddam and Tufan Hashemi founded Roksan in Great Britain, after graduating from college, as a means of meeting the growing demand for high-quality turntables and amplification systems. Touraj had only just attained his Ph.D. at the Imperial College, when he came to the realization that many smaller, modern television sets of the time often were capable of reproducing sound more accurately than many of the high-end audio equipment. Together, the duo sought to design a new turntable, that would showcase what the future of high-fidelity music should sound like. After starting the company, they introduced their turntable at a tradeshow, which cemented their company as a leader in the audio equipment industry.

Over the years, the company continued to produce a number of different lines of turntables and audio amplifiers. Today, Hashemi’s turntable and Moghaddam amplifiers continue to live on in the current generation of high-end components manufactured at Roksan.
